묵상, 말씀과 공동체 예배의 중요성,  신 27:6

 너는 다듬지 않은 돌로 네 하나님 여호와의 제단을 쌓고 그 위에 네 하나님 여호와께 번제를 드릴 것이며

OBSERVATION

Summary
모세와 이스라엘 장장로들은  이스라엘 백성들이 가나안 땅에 들어간 후, 율법을 새긴 돌들을  세우고,  제단을 쌓아 하나님께 제사를 드리며, 말씀을 지키겠다는 언약을 할 것을 가르친다.

Who is God
• 하나님은 순수한 예배를 원하신다.
• 하나님은 당신의 백성들이 말씀 중심으로 살아가기 원하신다.
• 하나님은 말씀과 공동체 예배가운데 임재하신다.

APPLICATION

오늘 본문에서 모세와 이스라엘 장로들은 이스라엘 백성들이 가나안에서 공동체를 이루며 살 때 무엇보다도 말씀중심의 공동체, 예배 공동체가 될 것을 강조한다. 말씀과 공동체 예배를 통하여 하나님은 그들과 함께 하시기 때문이다.  우리가 하나님과 동행하기 원한다면 우리의 삶 역시 말씀과 공동체가 모여 즐거워하며 친교하는 공동체 예배가 기본이 되어야한다.  하나님은 말씀을 통하여 우리와 동행하시며,  공동체 예배를 통하여 우리가 운데 임재하신다. 

팀 켈러 목사님은  “기도”  가운데 그리스도인의 영적 상태를 4 가지 상태로 비유하였다. 돛을 올리고 항해하는 배, 돛 가득히 바람을 받으며 신나게 달려가는 배.  주님의 사랑을 느끼며 성령의 바람을 타고 힘있게 살아가는  최고의 상태이다. 열심히 노를 저으며 항해하는 배, 기도, 성경 읽기를 꾸준히 지속하는  신앙 생활,  영적 침체 현상이 나타나지만 극복하려고 꾸준히 노력한다.  표류하는 배, 영적으로 메말라 감에도  노젓는 노력을 안하는 경우이다.  주님을 향한 갈망도 없고 기도나 말씀, 예배에 관심이 없다. 침몰하는 배.  이제 항로를 완전히 벗어나 침몰의 위기에 있다.  자기 연민과 원한에 사로잡혀 있다. 공개적으로 죄를 지으며, 하나님을 대적하는 말과 행동도 한다, 

팀 켈러는 돛에 바람이 불어오지 않을 때, 명심할 것은 어떤 일이 있어도 표류하는 상태에 빠져서는 안되며, 기도, 말씀, 예배 생활을 지속해야한다고 강조한다.  그러면 다시 순풍이 불어오고 전진할 수 있다. 그러나 아예 노 젓기도 거절하면, 표류하다가, 폭풍이 불어올 때 침몰하게 된다. 그렇다. 힘들어도 주님이 내 삶을 다스리고 계심을 믿으며 기도, 말씀, 범사에 감사의 예배를 지속하노라면. 언젠가 성령의 바람이 불어온다.

그런데 다듬지 않은 돌로 제단을 쌓으라는 말씀은 중요하다. 예배를 드릴 때 인간적인 꾸밈이 없는 예배가 되어야 한다는 의미이다. 인간의 공로를 내세우거나, 특정인을 의식한다거나, 하나님외, 인간적인 것에 마음이 분산되는 예배가 되어서는 안된다.  다윗 시대 법궤를 모셔오는 과정에서, 블레셋 사람들이 사용하던 새 수레에 법궤를 모셔오는데, 소들이 뛰놀자  웃사와 아효가 법궤에 손울 대고, 현장에서 죽게 된다.  새수레가 인간적으로 멋져 보이고 앞서갸는 기구였기에 사람들은 하나님보다, 새수레에 찬사와 감탄을 보낼 수도 있었을 것이다. 예배 때, 하나님외, 다른 대상들이 관심이나 영광을 받아서는 결코 안된다.
우리 교회의 예배는 어떠한가?    말씀과 예배및 기도의 균형을 항상 유지하라.

하나님 아버지,  이 광야 인생, 우리에게 하나님의 말씀을 주시니 감사합니다. 저희에게 사랑하는 성도들이 모이는  교회 공동체를 주시니 감사합니다.  우리의 예배가 오직 주께만 집중하게 하옵소서. 우리  모임가운데 감사와 즐거움,  사랑의 친교가 항상 있게 하소서,. 성령님. 우리의 예배가운데 임재하시고,  모든 모임가운데 임재하소서.  주께서 말씀과 예배 가운데 늘 함께 하심을 감사합니다. 아멘.

QT: Importance of the Word and Community Worship (Deuteronomy 27:6)
“Build the altar of the Lord your God with fieldstones and offer burnt offerings on it to the Lord your God.”

OBSERVATION
Summary: Moses and the elders of Israel instruct the people that upon entering the land of Canaan, they should set up stones inscribed with the law, build an altar, and offer sacrifices to God, affirming their covenant to keep His Word.

Who is God:
• God desires pure worship.
• God wants His people to live centered on His Word.
• God is present among His people in the Word and community worship.

APPLICATION
In today’s passage, Moses and the elders emphasize that as the people of Israel live in community in Canaan, they must be a Word-centered and worshiping community. This is because through the Word and community worship, God is with them. If we want to walk with God, our lives should also reflect a joyful and fellowship-driven community worship centered on His Word. God walks with us through His Word and is present among us in our communal worship.

Pastor Tim Keller compares the spiritual states of Christians in prayer to four types of boats. A ship raising its sails, sailing vigorously with the wind filling its sails, represents the best state of living powerfully, feeling the Lord’s love, and riding the winds of the Holy Spirit. A ship diligently rowing, engaged in a faith life of consistent prayer and Bible reading, may experience spiritual stagnation, but it strives to overcome this through persistent effort. A drifting ship signifies a state of spiritual dryness, where there is no effort to row. There is no longing for the Lord, and there is a lack of interest in prayer, Scripture, or worship. A sinking ship indicates a complete deviation from its course, facing the crisis of sinking. It is consumed by self-pity and resentment, openly committing sins and acting in ways that oppose God.

Keller emphasizes that when the wind isn’t blowing in the sails, it is crucial to remember never to drift but to continue in prayer, the Word, and worship. This commitment can lead to the return of favorable winds and progress. However, if one refuses to row at all, they may drift and sink when storms arise. If we persevere in prayer, the Word, and grateful worship, even through difficulties, we can trust that the Spirit’s wind will eventually blow.

The instruction to build an altar of uncut stones is significant. It signifies that worship must be devoid of human embellishments. Worship should not distract from God with human achievements or seek recognition from others. During David's time, as the Ark of the Covenant was being transported on a new cart used by the Philistines, Uzzah reached out to steady it and died on the spot. The new cart may have seemed impressive, but it could lead people to admire the cart rather than honor God. In our worship, no one or nothing other than God should receive attention or glory.
How is our church's worship? We must always maintain a balance of the Word, worship, and prayer.

Sin to avoid: Do not be distracted by anything other than God during worship.
Promise to hold: God is present during worship.
Action to take: Do not lose the balance of the Word and worship.

“Father God, thank You for giving us Your Word during this wilderness life. Thank You for the church community where we gather with beloved saints. May our worship focus solely on You. Let there be gratitude, joy, and love in our gatherings. Holy Spirit, be present in our worship and in all our meetings. We are grateful that You are always with us in the Word and worship. Amen.”
